COVID-19 is making its way downtown, spreading fast, faces pass and hopefully soon homebound. It walked a thousand miles and affected millions of people and businesses around the world. Owners of small businesses are worried their companies won’t survive this pandemic, but DURIBLE is here to help. So, here are three creative ways to keep your small business up and running during COVID-19.
Tip 1: Offer free shipping
The outbreak of the Coronavirus turned the whole world upside down. It made a lot of us realize our normal day-to-day life isn’t that normal at all. While being stuck at home, there are various things you can do, and online shopping is one of them. However, the advice of not leaving the house prevents customers from picking up their online purchases in a physical store or at a pickup point, but every order needs to be delivered at the customer’s house. To show your compassion towards these customers, it could be a good idea to offer free shipping on all orders. This could be an extra boost for the customer to order your product and lead to extra sales during these times. Who doesn’t like to buy products from their couch and receive them the next day at their front door?!
Tip 2: Create an online challenge
Quarantine has its downsides, but obviously also its advantages. We finally have time to actually clean our houses, to do home workouts, and to finally read that book you have been wanting to read since last summer. Another activity lots of people have started with, is cleaning out their closets and bringing the clothes they do not wear to a secondhand store or giving them to charity. With DURIBLE being a sustainable fashion brand, it is a nice opportunity for us to start a challenge for our followers to share their cleaned closet and their clothing items they’re going to donate by using a specific hashtag in order to motivate others to do the same. Other challenges that are booming on Instagram right now are to juggle a toilet paper with your foot or a hockey stick and planking with a kid laying on top of you. Try to be creative and come up with your own challenge linked to the industry you’re operating in.
Tip 3: Use social media
The measures around the Coronavirus require a physical social distance from you and those around you but create on the other hand a virtual social connection. We spend more time at home and therefore tend to spend more time online. As a small business, this is your time to shine and to be active on various social media platforms. Create an Instagram account, if you haven’t done so already, and share pictures and videos about your company. Instagram is an amazing platform to promote your products and to let your customers know they are still able to order those.
Finally, try to stay calm during these crazy times, it will come to an end sooner or later. Try to support other small businesses by getting your vegetables at your local supermarket and buy a new t-shirt at a sustainable start-up company instead of H&M or Zara.
Keep your head up and enjoy the extra free time to reflect, relax, and recover. We are all in this together.
Stay safe!
