193 member states of the United Nations agreed upon “Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

“It is a roadmap to ending global poverty, building a life of dignity for all and leaving no one behind. It is also a clarion call to work in partnership and intensify efforts to share prosperity, empower people’s livelihoods, ensure peace and heal our planet for the benefit of this and future generations,” underscored UN Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki-moon.
We, team DURIBLE, are working hard towards our 5 SDG Goals:
Sustainable Consumption and Production
Economic Growth
Global Partnerships
Climate Change
Health
DURIBLE t-shirts are made out of 100% organic cotton. Such a certified organic cotton growth assures that no chemical fertilizers, no chemical pesticides, and no GMO’s are used in. Also, it is a guarantee of more efficient water use, fewer greenhouse gases and crop rotation to preserve the land. Crop rotation, between cotton and food crops, assures farmers of a more diverse income and food security in their local communities.
Due to big brand infamous activities in Asia, such as sweatshops, many new brands avoid outsourcing production in that region. However, the garment industry is a crucial part of economic growth there. Thus, we should aim to improve working conditions rather than boycott Asian suppliers. From each t-shirt bought, DURIBLE donates € 2 to Fair Wear Foundation in Amsterdam, which protects and empowers local workers in Asian countries, for example, control of wages and safety conditions at work.
The Aral Sea used to be the world’s fourth-largest lake, home to 24 species of fish, lush forests and wetlands. However, the growing of 1,47 m hectares of conventional cotton, which uses up to 2 700 L of water per shirt, has been linked to disruption of the Aral Sea, according to the Guardian (2014). Moreover, conventional cotton crops are the dirtiest on the planet: they use 11% of the world’s pesticides, and 24% of the world’s insecticides, but only take up 2.4% of the world’s land. Also, carcinogenic dust is blown into villages causing throat cancers and respiratory diseases.
On the other hand, organic cotton is free of the toxins that are incredibly harmful to farmers, workers, consumers, and entire eco-systems alike.
Be sustainable. Wear DURIBLE.
